How to Set Up Map Views

Use Maps to improve OEE

The Map View in Stack Light Commander lets you see your Andon lights overlaid on an actual floor plan of your facility. The lights display the real-time status, so when problems arise they can be identified faster. This guide covers how to upload your floor plan, place your lights, and organize views for multiple areas.

Map View overlays real-time Andon status on your actual floor plan.

Uploading Your Floor Plan

Commander accepts floor plans in JPG or PNG format. You do not need a CAD drawing or proprietary file type. The image will be used as the background for placing your lights on.

To upload, navigate to the Map View page in Commander and drag your file over the empty card. The floor plan loads as the background. You can replace it at any time if your layout changes.

Placing Lights on the Map

Once your floor plan is uploaded, you drag and drop your Andon lights onto their physical locations on the map. Each light appears as a colored indicator that updates in real time. When a light's status changes, the indicator on the map changes color immediately. When a supervisor sees a red indicator somewhere on the map, they will know exactly where to go.

Managing Tabs for Different Areas

If your operation spans multiple buildings, floors, or distinct areas, you can create separate tabs in the Map View. Each tab has its own floor plan and its own set of placed lights. For example, you might have tabs for "Building A - Ground Floor," "Building A - Mezzanine," and "Building B."

Users switch between tabs with a single click. This keeps each view clean and focused rather than trying to cram an entire multi-building onto one map.

Fullscreen Mode

Like the Bingo Board, Map View supports fullscreen mode. Press F11 or the up-arrow key in your browser to remove the navigation bar, giving your floor plan the maximum screen area. This is the recommended display mode for dedicated overhead monitors showing the Map View.

Tip: The Map View and Bingo Board share the same live data from your wireless Andon system. They are two ways of looking at the same information. Some facilities run both views on side-by-side monitors for spatial context and data-dense monitoring at the same time.

Best Practices

  • Use a high-resolution floor plan. A crisp image means your light indicators can be spotted as they relate to your facility's floor plan.
  • Keep it updated. If you rearrange equipment or add new stations, update the floor plan and reposition your indicators.
  • Label your tabs clearly. Use names that match how you refer to each area. "Warehouse East" is better than "Tab 2."
